Mixy

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 30, 2026

Mixy (https://mixy.ca) is a free online music player. This policy explains what information is involved when you use the site.

What Mixy does not do

  • Mixy does not require an account or registration.
  • Mixy does not host or store music audio files.
  • Mixy does not sell personal data. There is no advertising network on the player page.

SoundCloud

Playback and playlist search use SoundCloud's player and APIs. When you listen or search, requests may go to SoundCloud servers under SoundCloud's own privacy practices. Mixy is not an official SoundCloud product.

Local storage

Recent playlist search terms may be saved in your browser's local storage so you can reuse them. This data stays on your device and is not sent to Mixy as a user profile.

Server logs

The hosting provider and the Mixy API may receive standard technical data such as IP address, user agent, and request time in server logs, used only to operate and secure the service. IP addresses used for rate-limiting public statistics are not written into the public stats file.

Public site statistics

Mixy runs first-party counters on its own server (the Mixy API on this hosting). While you use the player, the site may record:

  • Approximate listening time while audio is playing
  • Page visits
  • Approximate country derived from IP (local lookup, no third-party geo service)
  • Device class (desktop, mobile, or tablet) from the browser user agent
  • Referrer host (where you came from), when the browser provides one

Only aggregated totals are stored and shown on the public Stats page and as a small listening total on the home page. Mixy does not publish raw IP addresses in that public statistics file.

Google Analytics

Mixy also uses Google Analytics so the site owner can understand usage (for example page views and approximate location). Those Google Analytics reports are separate from the public Stats page; the numbers on Stats come only from Mixy's own first-party counters. Google may set cookies or use similar technologies and process data according to Google's Privacy Policy.
